A man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in connection with a pedestrian’s death in Pacific Beach, authorities reported Sunday.

San Diego Police said a man was running mid-block, across the 4200 block of Mission Bay Drive, about 8:55 p.m. Saturday, when the driver of a 2003 Subaru WRX failed to stop and struck the victim.

Police said the pedestrian was partially obscured by a large pickup truck that had already stopped.

The pedestrian, whose identity was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 23-year-old driver of the Subaru was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Anyone with any information regarding the crash was urged to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
