Border Patrol agents and the San Diego Maritime Task Force intercepted a sailboat carrying six people who were being smuggled into the United States, the agency reported Wednesday.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday, agents intercepted the boat when it docked at Harbor Island. An immigration inspection revealed that six people on the sailboat had entered the United States illegally. Agents arrested the aliens and nine other individuals believed to be involved in the smuggling event.
The group was transported to a local Border Patrol station for processing, booked into the Metropolitan Correctional Center in San Diego, and face multiple Federal charges. The sailboat was seized by the Border Patrol.
