
A hit-and-run driver who struck a pedestrian, causing critical injuries, was being sought by the Escondido Police Department Friday.
The pedestrian, aged 14 and from Escondido, was struck in the 1100 block of North Fig Street Thursday night, Officer Paul Smyth said.
“At 9:26 p.m., a 911 caller reported that the victim was unconscious in the street and a vehicle was heard speeding south away from the scene,” the officer said. “The victim may have been on a skateboard at the time of the crash.”
The victim was taken to a trauma center with severe injuries. He remained in critical condition Friday, Smyth said.
