A driver died Saturday following a crash in Bonita in which he became trapped in a U-Haul truck after it struck several trees.
At approximately 12:11 p.m., Chula Vista police officers responded to calls about a single
vehicle that had hit a tree near Villas Drive and Villas Court.
Medics arrived at the scene and found the driver, 64, with serious injuries, still trapped in the vehicle. Firefighters began lifesaving measures after freeing the victim before transporting him to a hospital. Upon arrival, however, doctors pronounced him dead.
Initial indications suggest that the man was inside the truck when it began moving down the hill and colliding with the trees, leaving him trapped.
The Chula Vista Police Traffic Bureau is investigating the crash. Anyone who witnessed it
