A 24-year-old man from Ramona died when he was ejected from his motorcycle and landed in a drainage ditch, the California Highway Patrol said Monday.
The crash happened Friday about 2:30 p.m. when the man was riding his 2015 Triumph motorcycle southbound on 3rd Street, north of G Street, at a high rate of speed, according to CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber.
“Due to the rider’s unsafe speed, the rider lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to overturn,” Grieshaber said. “The rider and motorcycle slid off the east side of the roadway and landed at the bottom of a rock and concrete drainage ditch.”
As a result of the crash, the rider was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries, the officer said. The crash victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The crash was under investigation.
