California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Sunday that President Biden’s age and experience are reasons to re-elect him to a second term.

Speaking on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Newsom praised “Biden’s wisdom, his temperance, his capacity to lead in a bipartisan manner.”

“I’ve seen him up close, I’ve seen him from afar, but here’s my point: It’s because of his age that he’s been so successful,” the Governor said.

Republicans have claimed that, at 81, Biden is too old to be President, although Donald Trump at 77 is not much younger.

He said Biden has a strong record to run on this year, and urged him to debate Trump.

“What he’s done in three years, it’s been a masterclass,” Newsom said. “Close to 15 million jobs, that’s eight times more than the last three Republican presidents combined. The economy is booming, inflation is cooling.”

Newsom called Trump “unhinged,” saying the former President projects “weakness masquerading as strength.”
