Donald Trump again led the latest straw poll conducted by the San Diego Republican Party — favored by 30 percent. But his support fell from July’s high of 37 percent.

According to the local GOP’s Facebook page, the New York businessman was the top presidential pick of those voting in the online poll. The number of voters wasn’t shown.

“For the second month in a row, Trump takes the win, and [Carly] Fiorina makes her first appearance in our top-5,” said a Facebook post. “Make sure to vote in this month’s [poll] by going to http://bit.ly/2016StrawPoll.

Second in the August poll was neurosurgeon Ben Carson at nearly 20 percent, followed by Sen. Ted Cruz at 13.3 percent and former HP executive Fiorina at nearly 12 percent. Visitors to the site have a choice of 17 candidates.

San Diego’s GOP has made no endorsement. But it provides links to local websites of the 17 hopefuls. Example: “Want to volunteer for Donald Trump’s campaign in San Diego? Go here: http://bit.ly/DonaldTrumpSanDiego.”

The local Republicans, led by county chairman Tony Kravric, have posted a series of straw poll results since April (when Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker won).

At the Valley Center Street Fair in May, a straw poll cited by the GOP found Carson first at 21.6 percent, with Walker and Cruz tied for second at 16.2 percent and Trump behind Sens. Rand Paul and Marco Rubio. Trump tied with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 5.4 percent.

Meanwhile on the conservative blog sdrostra.com, KCBQ radio talk show host and columnist Bob Siegel shared his ambivalance over Trump — with a series of back-and-forth thoughts titled “The many hands of Donald Trump.”

“Yes, I would vote for Donald Trump before Hillary Clinton,” Siegel posted Tuesday. “But don’t read too much into that. I would also vote for Donald DUCK before voting for Hillary Clinton. … But in the midst of your Trump euphoria, please do the rest of us just one favor: Stop calling him ;The Donald.’ That sounds an awful lot like 2008 when people called Obama ‘The Obama,’ which sounded like ‘The Messiah.’”

He concluded: “Neither of these two men are The Messiah. On the other hand. … No! (in the words of Tevya from Fiddler on the Roof) There is no other hand!”
