A 33-year-old man was shot in the foot in an apparent gang-related attack while walking in the East Village early Tuesday, police said.
Officers received a report of gunfire in the area of Market and 17th streets around 2:15 a.m., according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.
Minutes later, officers stopped a brown van at Market and 16th streets and found the victim inside, he said.
The shooter — a 6-foot black man in his 20s wearing a black hoodie — was on foot when he shot the victim but fled in a silver four-door Ford Taurus, Delimitros said.
Gang detectives were investigating.
