A 64-year-old San Clemente man was fatally injured in a weekend crash on Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton, authorities said Monday.
The man’s black Mini Cooper veered off the northbound freeway near Las Pulgas Road, went down an embankment and struck a tree shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The driver was pronounced dead at a hospital around 1:15 p.m., the medical examiner’s office reported. His name was withheld pending family notification.
