San Diego Police were on the lookout Tuesday for a gunman who opened fire on a 33-year-old man in a parking lot in the Colina Del Sol neighborhood, striking him several times in the back.

The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening wounds following the shooting near the intersection of 52nd Street and El Cajon Boulevard shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros. He was listed in critical condition, according to news reports.

Police said the shooting was not gang-related, but the motive was not immediately determined. Delimitros said investigators were working to determine what led to the attack.

Police described the suspect as black and 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 with a medium to large build and braided hair. He was wearing a white shirt and gray sweatpants and was last seen running south on 52nd Street.
