An argument at an El Cajon apartment complex escalated Monday into a shooting that left one person wounded and another under arrest, authorities said.
Patrol officers responding to a report of gunfire found the victim at the residential complex in the 200 block of Van Houten Avenue shortly after 11 a.m., according to the El Cajon Police Department.
Paramedics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the leg, ECPD Lt. Keith MacArthur said.
A witness reported seeing the shooter fleeing to the north following the gunfire, the lieutenant said. In the 200 block of El Cajon Boulevard, officers saw a man matching the gunman’s description, took him into custody and confiscated a firearm from him, police said.
The victim and the suspect, 25-year-old Quinton Darensbourg, apparently know each other and were quarreling prior to the shooting, according to police. The reason for the argument was unclear, MacArthur said.
