A body was found floating in the surf near the Ocean Beach Pier late Thursday.
The discovery near the terminus of Niagara Avenue was reported shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The dead person appeared to have been in the water “for quite some time,” SDFRD Capt. Joe Amador said.
The county Medical Examiner’s Office was called in to take custody of the body for autopsy and identification purposes.
