
San Diego State sophomore Cody Thompson won the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week Monday after throwing 13 scoreless innings to pick up two wins last week.
One of those appearances was a complete-game shutout against cross-town rival USD, to help the Aztecs sweep the season series against the Toreros 2-0.
Thompson held the Toreros—who came into the game batting .300—to four hits, three of which were singles, and struck out four batters.
He would go on to pick up his second win of the week on Sunday against Air Force, after throwing four scoreless innings in relief to help the team win 2-1 in 10 innings,a game that been delayed from Saturday due to rain.
With the win last Sunday, the Aztecs clinched the No. 2 seed in the MW Tournament, which begins in Reno, Nevada on May 20.
SDSU (34-18, 19-10) will play their final series of the season this week against St. Mary’s, a three-game set that begins on May 14 at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
