A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a car at a North County intersection Friday, authorities reported.
The man was walking to the north in a crosswalk at Quince Street and Washington Avenue in Escondido when the eastbound Ford Focus hit him about 7:30 a.m., according to police.
Medics took the unidentified victim to a hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.
The motorist, who was uninjured, was cooperative with investigators and was not immediately cited over the accident, Officer Scott Christensen said.
