A baby seal wandered into Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach, prompting an escort out by sheriff’s deputies.

The seal waddled five blocks from the Pacific shoreline to the school on Wednesday. School staff called the San Diego Sheriff’s Department for help.

Officials joked that the seal was “detained without incident” in the back of a sheriff’s cruiser.

“While deputy sheriffs attempted to interview him as to his activities, he clammed-up and requested his lawyer,” quipped one official.

Experts from San Diego County Animal Control and SeaWorld arrived shortly thereafter and took the seal.
