North County law enforcement agencies arrested 11 suspected gang members in the Vista area Friday as part of an effort to disrupt criminal activity along the Highway 78 corridor.
San Diego County Sheriff‘s deputies were joined by police from Escondido, Carlsbad and Oceanside in the 10-hour operation that targeted post-release offenders. The arrests ranged from possession of controlled substances for sale to probation violation and warrant arrests.
The sheriff’s department said gang members are increasingly seen in North County cities and cited releases under Proposition 47, which reduced sentences for some crimes, as one reason.
The sheriff said operations of this type will continue in all of the North County Cities along the Highway 78 corridor.
