Shelter Island was chosen by a national dating advice blog as the fifth sexiest beach in America, beating out even Malibu, Redondo and Venice beaches farther north.
DatingAdvice.com, which bills itself as “leading resource site for dating,” included Shelter Island in its list of the 16 sexiest beaches in America.
San Diegans know Shelter Island isn’t really much of a beach, but the restaurants, concerts and sailing are indeed world class.
“Shelter Island is a secluded oasis in San Diego that is famous for its stunning sunset views,” said DatingAdvice.com. “Have a picnic on a yacht, or eat in one of the many fine dining restaurants on the island.”
The island began as a sandbank in San Diego Bay and was developed into an island in the 1950s.
