A 47-year-old man was hospitalized Monday with broken bones after he ran a red light while on his bicycle and was struck by a car in Chollas View, police said.
The cyclist was struck by westbound Dodge Charger in the 4700 block of Market Street about 11 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego Police Officer Robert Heims.
Paramedics took him to the hospital so he could be treated for broken bones in his lower leg, Heims said in a statement, adding that he was expected to survive.
A 27-year-old man driving the Charger remained at the scene.
