Mayor Todd Gloria was elected by the U.S. Conference of Mayors Nominating Committee Friday to serve on the USCM Advisory Board.

Gloria said as a result, he will play a more prominent role in the conference and have opportunities to engage with the White House and leaders in Congress.

“This new role will give San Diego a stronger voice and bring our priorities to the forefront on the national stage,” he said. “I plan to work collaboratively with communities across the country to find innovative solutions to common challenges, such as ending homelessness, addressing housing affordability, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, advancing commonsense immigration policies and creating a more equitable society that gives all of us the opportunity to succeed.”

In March, Mayor Gloria was appointed by USCM President and Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer to serve as vice chair for border policy on the conference’s Criminal and Social Justice Committee.

USCM is the official nonpartisan organization of American cities with a population of 30,000 or larger.
