Bernardo Fire 2

Investigators were working to determine if a Vista home fire that left a man and a woman injured Wednesday was intentionally set.

As firefighters extinguished the small blaze and vented smoke from the home at 1154 Nash Lane around 7:30 a.m., they spotted a woman in her 40s with “significant burn injuries,” said Vista Deputy Fire Chief Ned Vander Pol.

She was taken to a burn unit to be treated, along with a man in his 60s who was also injured, Vander Pol said.

The home sustained only minor smoke damage, he said.

The Sheriff’s Department’s bomb-arson unit was summoned to determine what caused the fire and whether it was started intentionally, said sheriff’s Lt. Mike Munsey.
