An investigation was under way Tuesday in San Diego’s Cherokee Point neighborhood, where a man wearing a gray hoodie ran up behind a 21-year-old man and tried to slash his throat but got his cheek instead, police said.
The attack at 3850 University Ave. was reported just before 6 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego Police Officer Dino Delimitros.
The victim, who had just walked out of a liquor store when the attack occurred, suffered a minor cut to his left cheek, Delimitros said in a statement.
The motive was unclear.
