A Chula Vista woman who stabbed an acquaintance while trying to rob him at his El Cajon home last year was sentenced Monday to nine years in state prison.

Lymarie Rodriguez, 31, pleaded guilty to attempted murder in the July 11, 2013, stabbing that occurred about 2 a.m. in the 1600 block of Buckeye Drive.

Police said the violence erupted after Rodriguez attempted to rob the victim.

He suffered a life-threatening injury but recovered, according to authorities. Rodriguez was also injured in the attack.

The defendant and and the victim knew each other but were not romantically involved, police said.

Rodriguez was sentenced by El Cajon Superior Court Judge John Thompson.
