Authorities on Thursday publicly identified the 77-year-old woman who died in a fire at her Carlsbad townhome.
Marjorie Jean Gilbert was found dead after firefighters extinguished the blaze at her home at 2327 Caringa Way around 8 p.m. Tuesday, according to Carlsbad police and fire officials and the county Medical Examiner’s Office. Her home sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.
The cause of Gilbert’s death was not immediately known.
