Two teens, one of whom was out on bail, were facing charges Wednesday in the robbery of a Vista convenience store.
The Chevron store at 1590 S. Melrose Drive was robbed shortly before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, said sheriff’s Sgt. Tom Ness. One suspect pointed a gun, later determined to be a “BB-style type gun,” at an employee while the other grabbed cash from the register, he said.
The clerk suffered minor injuries, Ness said.
About 30 minutes later, deputies stopped 18-year-old Drew Viramontes and a 16-year-old boy because they matched the description of the suspects. Ness said Viramontes was carrying “a significant amount of cash, similar to the amount taken in the robbery.”
Both were arrested and booked on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime. Viramontes was also facing a charge of committing a felony while free on bail, and the minor a charge of possessing a switchblade knife, Ness said.
