A commercial airliner was struck twice by a green laser as it approached Lindbergh Field on Friday afternoon, but it landed safely and no one was injured.
Skywest Airlines Flight 6639 was about eight miles from the airport around 5:30 p.m. when it was struck by two laser bursts, each lasting about one second, said Sgt. Scott Ferraioli of the San Diego Harbor Police Department.
The flight crew reported that the beams originated from somewhere between North Park and Mission Valley, Ferraioli said.
