Flags at the state Capitol were flown at half- staff Tuesday in the memory of a 19-year-old Camp Pendleton Marine from Riverside who died in Iraq.

Lance Cpl. Sean P. Neal died Thursday in Baghdad in a non-combat role. How Neal died was not made available.

Neal was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force, Crisis Response, Central Command, Camp Pendleton.

In a statement, Gov. Jerry Brown and his wife, Anne Gust Brown, expressed their deepest condolences on behalf of all Californians to Neal’s family and friends. His family will receive a letter of condolence from the governor.
