Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers faced some hard questions following the team’s 24-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The teams played in Mexico City Monday night, and the Chargers had the ball in the final minutes of the game.

Rivers, however, threw his fourth interception of the night in the end zone with 24 seconds to play, sealing the Chiefs’ victory.

“He put us in positions when we did move the ball down the field, especially there at the end. He just ended up with a bad throw at the end,” head coach Anthony Lynn said, according to NFL.com.

With the loss, the Chargers fell to 4-7, in third place in the AFC West. After a bye week, they play the Denver Broncos on Dec. 1.

ESPN noted that all of the Chargers’ losses this season have been by seven or fewer points.

According to CBSSports.com, in his last four games, Rivers has four touchdowns, eight interceptions and two fumbles, with an accuracy rate hovering around 60%.

The report questioned Rivers’ future with the Chargers, as he soon will turn 38 and remains unsigned for next season.

Rivers didn’t dodge criticism following the game, saying he “didn’t get fooled,” but made a “poor throw” to end the game.

“The only way I know is to fight …” he said. “You just keep fighting.”

Teammates had his back as well.

“Perfect football is just impossible … and you know, we can’t put it on Phil. He makes some bad throws, it’s up to us to make some more plays you know, to pick him up,” said running back Melvin Gordon.
