A parolee stands accused of sneaking into a Hillcrest nursing home and raping an 88-year-old patient.
Police arrested Lusean Arline, 48, Monday in connection with the Oct. 27 sexual assault, according to San Diego police.
Arline allegedly entered the elder-care facility without permission. He then made his way into the octogenarian’s room and attacking her.
The victim and others screamed at Arline, alerting staff to his presence, according to Lt. Carole Beason.
“When staff members responded, Arline ran away,” she said.
Detectives collected evidence at the scene and submitted it to the FBI Combined DNA Index System. That led investigators to identify Arline as the suspected perpetrator, according to Beason.
Police tracked down Arline with help from the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the lieutenant said.
Arline faces charges of forcible rape, assault, burglary, elder abuse and violation of his parole. He was being held on $1 million bail at San Diego Central Jail pending arraignment, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
