A person died Saturday in a traffic accident on an Interstate 5 offramp in the Shelltown neighborhood, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The accident happened at 1:22 p.m. when a black Ford Mustang traveling north on I-5 swerved, went off the freeway, rolled and landed on Roosevelt Avenue near Eighth Street, according to a CHP incident report.
Firefighters cut apart the Mustang to reach the driver, who was taken to a hospital but pronounced dead about 40 minutes after the crash, according to the CHP.
A description of the victim was not immediately available.
