A fire that erupted at a small, independent school Thursday afternoon in Fox Canyon prompted the evacuation of students and staff, according to OnSceneTV.

The fire happened about 3:40 p.m. at The Waldorf School of San Diego in the 3500 block of Altadena Avenue, a few blocks west of 54th Street and Streamview Avenue. San Diego Fire and Rescue responded to the incident, quickly got the flames under control and put out the blaze.

Students and staff were safely evacuated. The were no injuries were reported, and damage appeared to be mostly to a wall and roof.

The private school offers early childhood, lower education and high school programs to about 260 students, according to the California Department of Education.

According to firefighters at the scene, it’s possible the fire originated in an external air-conditioning unit.
