A toddler and possibly others were injured late Thursday afternoon in a collision involving a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle on state Route 905 in Otay Mesa

The accident took place about 5 p.m. on the westbound side of the freeway, west of Caliente Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred after agents tried to pull over a car whose driver refused to yield and then crashed into a Border Patrol SUV and another vehicle, 10News reported.

A child in one of the cars was transported to Rady Children’s Hospital, but it was unclear if others were injured.

Authorities shut down all but one of the westbound lanes in the area to allow for investigation and cleanup.
