A car fire on a rural road about a mile north of Lake Jennings spread into an adjacent grassy field late Friday afternoon, blackening about four open acres.
Ground and air crews doused the flames in about 45 minutes.
The blaze off Willow Road near Louis Stelzer County Park in Lakeside erupted about 5:15 p.m., according to Cal Fire.
The flames posed no imminent threats to homes in the remote and underdeveloped area, said Thomas Shoots, a fire captain.
He reported no structural damage or injuries due to the fire.
