Ryan Harrison and Raven Klassen both won two sets leading the San Diego Aviators to a 24-18 victory over the New York Empire Friday night in a World TeamTennis match at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.

Harrison opened the match with a 5-4 victory over Daniel Nguyen, overcoming a 3-1 deficit. Both players had their serve broken once.

Aviators women’s singles player Shelby Rogers defeated Christina McHale, 5-4. Each player had her serve broken once. McHale won both 3-all games.

Harrison and Klassen defeated Nguyen and Skupski, 5-2, in men’s doubles, increasing the Aviators lead to 15-10.

In the Aviators (3-2) only loss of the night, their women’s doubles team of Darija Jurak and Rogers lost to Maria Irigoyen and McHale, 5-4, after trailing 4-1. Irigoyen and McHale won three of the four 3-all games.

Jurak and Klassen completed the match, the Aviators’ first this season against an opponent other than the Orange County Breakers, by defeating Irigoyen and Skupski, 5-3.

The Aviators are scheduled to play host to the Washington Kastles, Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
