As the 2015 NFL Draft approaches this week, rumors involving the future of San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers have begun to heat up.

However, several conflicting reports have emerged about a possible trade of Rivers to the Tennessee Titans for the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, where the Bolts would presumably take 2014 Heisman Award winner Marcus Mariota.

Last Wednesday, U-T San Diego reported that a trade between the Chargers and Titans was “nowhere close to coming to fruition,” and that the two teams had not yet discussed a trade involving Rivers.

Chargers general manager Tom Telesco echoed that sentiment in his pre-draft press conference last Wednesday.

“Philip’s our quarterback, and the plan is he’ll be here for a long, long, long time,” Telesco said.

On that same day, though, Fox Sports reported that several NFL sources did not turn down the idea of a Rivers trade to the Titans

Along with that, Alex Flanagan, a  reporter for NBC Sports and NFL Network, tweeted out on Saturday that the Rivers rumors “have legitimate legs.”

Although rumors are swirling, Rivers showed up to the team’s voluntary workouts last week, and even scheduled a workout with his receivers to help build chemistry, according to U-T San Diego.

Even though he has reported for workouts, Rivers and the Chargers have still nixed any contract extension talks for the time being.

At the moment, the Bolts hold the No. 17  pick in the draft, which begins this Thursday April 30 and ends Saturday May 2, in Chicago.
