Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista, has condemned comments Donald Trump made about women in an 11-year-old tape that was revealed on Friday.

“This type of behavior has no place in American politics, especially not from those seeking to lead our great nation,” Issa said via Twitter on Friday night. He had no further comment after City News Service reached out to his campaign Saturday.

Issa’s opponent for re-election to California’s 49th Congressional District is Democrat Doug Applegate, who called the Trump video “disgusting.”

“As a father of two daughters, it was difficult for me to listen to Donald Trump’s vile comments today,” Applegate said Friday night. “It is beyond comprehension to me that my opponent Darrell Issa thinks this man should be president.”

Denise Gitsham, the Republican candidate for Congress who is challenging Rep. Scott Peters, D-San Diego, has condemned comments Donald Trump made about women in an 11-year-old tape that was revealed on Friday.

“Tonight I join Speaker Paul Ryan, Leader Kevin McCarthy, House Republican Conference Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rogers, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus, and countless others in the Republican Party and across America who reject Donald Trump’s degrading and objectifying statements about women,” Gitsham said in a statement released late Friday.

“His words are an embarrassment to our party, and the sentiments underlying them are utterly antithetical to my faith and values.”

The statement was released by the Gitsham campaign for California’s 52nd Congressional District shortly before midnight, hours after a statement was released by Peters’ campaign manager, MaryAnne Pintar.

“For months, Ms. Gitsham has danced around the question of who she supports for president. After today’s revelations, more than ever, San Diegans deserve to know if Denise Gitsham will use her vote to help this unfit, dangerous, abusive man become the next president of the United States,” Pintar said.

“In sharp contrast, Rep. Peters has strongly denounced Trump’s hateful rhetoric and dangerous ideas for months … Our campaign calls on Denise Gitsham to denounce Donald Trump, and to call upon him to resign as the Republican nominee for president immediately.”

The Washington Post and NBC News released a 2005 video Friday afternoon, on which Trump describes trying to have sex with a married woman. He also brags about women letting him kiss and grab them because he is famous.

Trump issued an apology in a Facebook post last night, but many national Republican figures continue to condemn the remarks, with some going so far as to say they no longer plan to vote for the Republican presidential nominee.
