Congressional candidate Carl DeMaio picked up an endorsement from the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, which singled out the San Diegan’s “Fix Congress First” plan.

“Carl DeMaio’s Fix Congress First plan will force Congress to live under the same laws the rest of us do — something that’s long overdue,” said said Jon Coupal, president of the association formed by tax crusader Howard Jarvis after passage of landmark Proposition 13.

DeMaio’s plan would eliminate special exemptions and perks, require an independent ethics committee and dock representatives’ pay when the federal budget is late.

DeMaio, a Republican, faces incumbent Scott Peters, a Democrat, in the race for Congress in the 52nd District.
