“Chris is a smart, dedicated individual who will bring a great understanding of the city’s finances to the council,” said Young, who most recently served as co-chair of Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s transition team.

Roberts said Cate “represents a new generation of leadership in San Diego and will make a great addition not only to the city council, but as a leader to the San Diego region.”

Cate, a former small businessman and current taxpayer advocate, is running for election in District 6, which includes Mira Mesa, parts of Rancho Penasquitos, Miramar, Kearny Mesa and Clairement Mesa.
