A 17-year-old girl suffered a head injury Wednesday morning when she and another pedestrian were struck by a vehicle in the Rolando area.
One northbound motorist stopped as the pedestrians began to cross 58th Street at Bates Street around 7:30 a.m., but the driver of a second vehicle went around the first car and struck them both, San Diego Police Officer Dan Lasher said.
The 17-year-old, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital to be treated for what was described as a serious, but non-life-threatening head injury, Lasher said. The second victim apparently avoided serious injury.
Lasher said the motorist who struck the pedestrians was not suspected of drunken or drugged driving, and was not arrested in connection with the crash.
