A 37-year-old woman riding a bicycle — and who had been drinking — suffered serious injuries Sunday when she pedaled into the path of an on-coming tow truck in Pacific Beach.
The woman, who suffered major head and chest trauma, is expected to survive, said Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.
She was riding the bicycle northbound on the west curb line in the 4200 block of Mission Bay Drive when she turned eastbound a little after 12:55 a.m. and rode across Mission Bay Drive in front of a tow truck going northbound in the No. 2 lane, Heims said.
Paramedics rushed the woman to an area hospital, he said. The tow truck driver was not injured.
