Firefighters put out a fire in a light blue Nissan compact in an unincorporated area near Escondido Wednesday and found a body inside.

The fire was reported by a passerby, and deputies found a vehicle fully engulfed in flame near Harmony Grove Road and Country Club Drive at 8:53 p.m.

Fire crews were called to the scene and extinguished the blaze. A severely charred body was found in the driver’s seat.

The sheriff’s Bomb Arson unit was called and is investigating the incident.
