A 48-year-old man killed when his antique convertible veered off state Route 67 and rolled several times just outside Santee was publicly identified Tuesday.

Michael Paul Gharring of El Cajon lost control of the 1932 Ford Roadster on a connector from Riverford Road to southbound state Route 67 about 8:40 p.m. Sunday, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office and the California Highway Patrol.

The car, which was not equipped with seat belts, veered off the ramp, went down a dirt embankment and overturned. Gharring was ejected and struck a wooden post, authorities said. He died at the scene.

Intoxication was not believed to have been factor in the accident, according to the CHP.
