A sink hole was discovered by two CHP officers Monday morning in Fallbrook.

The officers were responding to a call when they noticed excess water in the road. Officers shut down the intersection of South Mission Road and West Fallbrook Street.

As time progressed, the sink hole became larger and is now big enough for a pickup truck to fit inside.

At one point, the water was shooting straight up into the air, according to reports.

As of 2:50 a.m., the water was still rapidly flowing.  Presently, the drains are doing their job and there is no property damage. Repairs will likely take hours or even days.

Fallbrook Public Utility District responded to the scene. Contact CHP for additional details.
