A SUV clipped a bicyclist before crashing into a fire hydrant and a light pole in downtown San Diego on Tuesday, but no one was seriously injured.
The driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid the rider near the intersection of Broadway and Front Street shortly before 4:30 p.m., according to San Diego police and fire officials. The SUV broke the hydrant, sending a stream of water into the air, and knocked out service to the traffic signal.
Those involved in the crash were either uninjured or declined medical treatment, a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher said.
