A suspected drunken driver crashed his car into a parked pickup truck in Tierrasanta, which left his young passenger hospitalized and him facing likely felony drunken driving charges.

Around 6:45 p.m. Friday, the driver of a 1997 Honda sedan, a man in his early 20s, was headed south on Rueda Court north of Tierrasanta Boulevard. He struck the rear of the unoccupied 2000 Toyota Tundra, San Diego police Officer David Stafford said.

The passenger, a woman in her late teens, sustained serious injuries to her head and face and was taken to a hospital, Stafford said.

Stafford said the uninjured driver was arrested and investigators would recommend that he be charged with a DUI.
