Lucent by Shea Homes San Diego is one of five neighborhoods available at Civita in Mission Valley.

Civita, a large urban-style community located on a former quarry site in Mission Valley, said builders sold 105 homes in the first half of 2014.

Plans for the 230-acre property call for 4,780 homes and apartments in numerous configurations, approximately 480,000 square feet for a retail center and 420,000 square feet for an office campus.

“Our strong sales pace is a testament to homebuyers’ appetite for urban-style living in the heart of Mission Valley,” said Marco A. Sessa, senior vice president of Sudberry Properties, developer of the community in concert with the Grant family, which has owned the quarry site since the early 1900s. “We’re gratified that these homebuyers are embracing our vision of a sustainable, transit-oriented community.”

Later this year Sudberry is planning to start construction on the proposed Civita Park, a 19-acre park designed as the heart of the Civita master plan.

The homes sold in the first half included single-family houses in the Altana neigborhood by TRI Point Homes, and three- and four-story, loft-style townhomes in the Origen neighborhood by Shea Homes San Diego. Shea is also offering single-story flats and two-story penthouses in the mid-rise Lucent neighborhood.
