Take a look at the New Children’s Museum‘s digitally immersive installation, the Sketch Aquarium, which has opened in downtown San Diego after weeks of testing.

Children and adults get to design a sea creature, scan it, watch it swim and bring their critters to life on a wall-sized digital aquarium, according to the museum.

“Sketch Aquarium allows children to express their creativity in an open and highly collaborative environment,” said Tomoko Kuta, Deputy Museum Director, in a statement. “Children are not only looking at and enjoying the artwork – they are a critical part of creating it.”

Visitors can play with the sea creatures and their own creations by touching the screen to feed the fish or directing them around the aquarium, said museum officials.

The walls-sized digital aquarium is 20″ wide and 10″ tall, said museum officials.

This installation is the museum’s first ever collaboration with a Tokyo-based award-winning TeamLab, said museum officials.
