Saturday kicks off graduation weekend for more than 8,000 UC San Diego students who will take part in three days of commencement activities.
Tonight’s all-campus graduation celebration features a speech from executive producer and “Modern Family” writer Danny Zucker. Students and families who gather this weekend will also hear from several speakers, including New York Times columnist Frank Bruni and Costa Rican diplomat Christiana Figueres, the executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change.

“It’s gratifying to see our graduating students embark on new endeavors as UC San Diego alumni,” said Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla. “These graduates are well prepared to enter the world as both scholars and citizens who will carry on UC San Diego’s legacy of innovation, service and excellence.”
Eleven commencement ceremonies are planned for the campus’ six undergraduate colleges, four professional schools and various graduate programs. The majority of ceremonies will take place Saturday and Sunday.
