In a nod to service members and their families, notable Padres players who’ve retired from the game are scheduled to play the Marine Corps Recruit Depot All-Stars softball team Thursday.

Taking place at Beeson Field aboard MCRD San Diego, the event is closed to the public but is open to MCRD personnel and their families.

The first pitch is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. with notable Padres alumni such as Trevor Hoffman, Carlos Hernandez, Mark Loretta, Randy Jones and others, according to the MCRD.

The MCRD team will be comprised of Marines, Sailors, Coast Guardsmen and Department of Defense civilians stationed at the base, according to the MCRD.

Each team will be led by an “honorary manager,” with the Padres alum being managed by former big leaguer and Padres pitching coach Norm Sherry.

The MCRD All-Stars will be managed by Sgt. Maj. Alex Dobson, MCRD San Diego and the Western Recruiting Region.
