The San Diego Padres dealt 39-year-old closer Fernando Rodney to the Miami Marlins on Thursday afternoon.
Rodney, who has been electric in his first year with the Padres, signed a one-year, $2 million contract in February.
He had 17 saves and maintained a 0.31 ERA in 28 appearances this season.
In return, the Padres will receive Class- A RHP Chris Paddack.
