Benjamin has been in contract talks with his former team, the Cleveland Browns, about re-signing, but those talks recently broke down, according to Rand Getlin of NFL Network.

Benjamin is coming off of a breakout season for the Cleveland Browns, as he caught 68 passes for 966 yards and five touchdowns, second on the team in each category to tight end Gary Barnidge.

He was drafted by the Browns with the 100th overall pick in the 2012 draft, and has played in Cleveland ever since, suffering through the endless carousel of coaches and quarterbacks.

The Chargers, who went 4-12 last season, are losing veteran wide receiver Malcolm Floyd to retirement, and are still in the process of signing tight ends Antonio Gates and Ladarius Green.

Star wide out Keenan Allen is returning from a kidney injury that kept him out of play since week 8 of last season.

The Atlanta Falcons are reportedly also interested in Benjamin.
